Raleigh – The Triangle’s largest Chinese New Year Festival will be held at the Lighthouse Convention Center, 326 Tryon Road in Raleigh, on February 5, 2005, from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.  An anticipated audience of 1500 people will enjoy a carnival-format that will include exciting dragon and lion dances, Chinese cultural dance and music performances, calligraphy, painting, and other cultural exhibits, interactive crafts and game booths, and food and merchandise sales.

Chinese New Year – the Year of the Rooster in the Chinese zodiac – officially begins February 9, 2005.  General admission to the Festival is $2 per adult, $1 per senior or children ages 12 to 18 years, and free for children under 12 years.  Tickets are sold at the door.  The event is sponsored by the Triangles Area Chinese American Society.  For more information, visit www.rtpnet.org/nctacas
